Biochemistry

University preparatory courses in biochemistry provide an in-depth understanding of the chemical processes within living organisms, exploring the molecular basis of life and its applications in various scientific fields.

Cellular Structure and Function: Study of cell components, organelles, and their biochemical functions. Biomolecules: Understanding the structure and function of biological macromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates. Metabolism and Bioenergetics: Exploration of metabolic pathways, energy production, and biochemical reactions within cells.

Laboratory Skills: Developing proficiency in laboratory techniques, experiments, and data analysis in biochemistry. Problem-Solving: Applying biochemical concepts to solve problems and analyze experimental results. Research and Presentation: Conducting research projects and presenting findings effectively.

Scientific Research: Biochemistry courses facilitate critical thinking and research skills necessary for scientific inquiry. Interdisciplinary Applications: Biochemistry serves as a bridge between biology and chemistry, relevant in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medicine, and agriculture. Basis for Advanced Studies: Provides a strong foundation for pursuing further studies in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields.

Palacký University Olomouc

Palacký University Olomouc (UP) is the oldest university in Moravia and the second-oldest in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1573 as a public university led by the Jesuit Order in Olomouc. At first the university only taught theology but has since expanded to eight faculties including arts, law, medicine and dentistry, education, science, physical culture and health sciences. The faculty of health sciences is the youngest having been established in 2008. The faculties are housed in beautiful historical buildings in Olomouc. The university is investing in building new faculties and research buildings. UP Science and Technology Park aims to bridge the gap between the academic-scientific world and private business, to help the university's research projects work in collaboration with private companies. Special attention is paid to fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and information technology. The University Press focuses especially on publishing the scientific and research activities of the university. It published worked which are considered too specialised for commercial publishers as well as publishing study books and professional journals.
